Treasure Coast Square mall could become a walkable mixed-use district
A new Martin County study envisions demolishing the indoor mall and replacing it with 760 residential units, outdoor dining, and an amphitheater.
Treasure Coast Square in Jensen Beach — the aging indoor mall that's been slowly dying for years — could be headed for a radical transformation.
A new Martin County study envisions demolishing the traditional indoor corridors and replacing them with an open-air district. The plan includes up to 760 residential units, apartments, mixed-use buildings, outdoor dining areas, pedestrian promenades, a central lawn, an amphitheater, and expanded entertainment options.
If this actually happens, it would completely change the Jensen Beach commercial corridor. A walkable, mixed-use district with nearly 800 housing units would bring thousands of new residents and shoppers to an area that currently feels like 1997.
The big question: will Simon Property Group (the mall's owner) actually commit? Mall redevelopment projects are notorious for stalling. But with Martin County actively studying this, there's real momentum. Watch this one.
