A Costco retail store might actually be coming to Southern Grove

PSL leaders approved the land deal. 170,000 sq ft store + gas station. Costco hasn't confirmed yet but the pieces are falling into place.

Port St. Lucie city leaders have unanimously approved a land deal that could bring a Costco Wholesale retail store to the Southern Grove corridor — and the 772 is losing its collective mind.

The proposed plan: a 170,000-square-foot Costco store with a gas station on Lot 2 of Southern Grove Plat 45, near South Kanner Highway. If you know Southern Grove, this puts it right in the middle of the area's biggest commercial buildout.

Here's the catch: Costco hasn't officially confirmed a construction start date. The land deal is approved, the zoning works, but Costco moves on their own timeline. They already have the massive distribution center operational nearby, which is a strong signal.

If it happens, this would be the first Costco retail store on the Treasure Coast. Currently, the nearest Costco is in Palm Beach Gardens — a 45-minute drive from most of PSL. A local store would be a game-changer for the 200,000+ residents who currently make that drive.

Between the Costco distribution center, the new Lowe's, BJ's Wholesale, and now a potential Costco retail store, Southern Grove is quickly becoming the commercial center of western PSL. The days of 'there's nothing out here' are over.
